Sex and Your Health: Make it Work For You

In this day in age, sex is either taboo or overly consumed. The truth is that sex and sexuality are a vital part of life. After all, it’s how we reproduce. More than that, sex can and should be about intimacy and pleasure. Believe it or not, sex in the proper context is suitable for your Health!

Sex impacts every level of our Health to include:

  • Physical

  • Intellectual

  • Emotional

  • Mental/Psychological

  • Social

  • Spiritual

It’s more than simply avoiding diseases and unplanned pregnancies; instead, it’s about self-discovery, confidence, and self-love in a self-guided or multi-lead way. According to the American Sexual Health Association, sexual Health is the ability to embrace and enjoy our sexuality throughout our lives. How often have there been certain stigmas associated with sexual freedom? Sexual freedom is about embracing the whole of you.

Sex has several physical benefits to your body. What’s better than having fun, working out, and improving your Health? While it won’t replace running 3 miles every morning, it can be a form of light exercise that gets your heart pumping like that of a park stroll on a Saturday morning. Light and refreshing. So let’s explore some of the most common benefits sex has to your Health.

  • Lowering blood pressure

  • Burning calories

  • Increasing heart health

  • Strengthening muscles

  • Reducing your risk of heart disease, stroke, and hypertension

  • Increasing libido

Did you know that sex can even serve as a gateway to more exercise? Studies have shown that people with more active sex tend to exercise more frequently and have better dietary habits. Improvements in physical fitness can offer rewards in sexual performance, so if that’s what it takes to get moving, then go for it!
